Ciarán Martin is the Director of CMA, a management consultancy specialising in Human Resource Development. He is a senior Talent Management practitioner and leader with experience of the public, not-for-profit and private sectors where he has developed a reputation for excellence, professionalism and achieving high-quality results in challenging situations. Ciarán has been able to do this by combining his strategic understanding of organisations, leaders and people with a comprehensive skill set that makes him a truly effective business partner, consultant, facilitator, coach, trainer and director / NED.
Prior to establishing CMA, Ciarán worked for 12 years with the blue-chip multi-national Alcoa, most recently as European Talent Management Director and, before that, as European HR Director for a division of Alcoa. In these roles, Ciarán successfully managed large scale and challenging organisational changes without business interruptions. He also supported the achievement of business performance improvement through the development and deployment of appropriate systems, approaches, structures and development support.
Ciarán’s unique blend of experience, gained in a number of industry sectors, brings together knowledge of engineering, manufacturing and transport operations, specialist training, generalist and senior HR leadership. His solid management know-how, pragmatic real-world approach and the ability to see potential in complex situations has enabled him to contribute effectively at all levels. Combining those attributes with an energetic approach and a can-do attitude, Ciarán has been able to achieve a consistently high degree of success over time.
In addition to holding senior UK roles, Ciarán has also worked internationally, was based in Barcelona and Geneva and has travelled and worked across continental Europe as well as the Middle East, Russia and the US. In fulfilling these roles, Ciarán developed expertise in strategy development & deployment, performance & change management, as well as organisational design & development and has been able to use his skills as a career and executive coach, trainer and consultant to achieve maximum impact. He is particularly passionate about leadership & management development, where much of his work occurs.
