People often find that they have been promoted to a management level because they have performed well in a post or as a member of a team.  This assumes that having been successful in their previous role, they will also be successful in fulfilling new management responsibilities.  However, many have received little or no training or support for this significant change of responsibility - becoming 'accidental managers' and they find themselves struggling to adapt successfully to their new role.
